Wood frame

COMPOSITION

Wood frame

We use softwood varieties (spruce and fir) for the frame parts, which are harvested exclusively from French forests, and that all benefit from the PEFC seal of approval.
Our wood has a moisture content of between 14% and 18% and they have a class 2 IFH treatment. Occasionally, we also use products such as glued-laminated or glue-backed timber for specific reinforcements. The frame wood density (maximum spacing of 60 cm) is defined by the loads carried to the ground.
Our frame timber is assembled by nailing (automatic or manual) or by screwing according to the studies conducted and a mechanical assembly system links all the elements.

The standard cross-sections and related insulating materials used fit the following dimensions:
45 x 120 with 120 mm insulation
45 x 145 with 150 mm insulation
45 x 180 with 180 mm insulation
45 x 200 with 200 mm insulation
45 x 240 with 240 mm insulation (2 layers)

Bracing panels

To ensure the stability of the structure, we brace our structures with wood panels. The panels are used to bear the horizontal loads due to the wind and transmit them to foundations. The size of the panels is defined according to the Eurocode 5 standard.
The nailing density (automatic nailing) which connects the panel to the wood structure depends on the load that is to be borne. In the case of seismic activity, we increase the nailing density.
The panels used are generally OSB (3 or 4) or MFP boards.

The sealing film: rain barrier and vapour barrier

The rainproof film protects the outer walls of the wooden structures from any water penetration and it also enhances the airtightness of the building. It protects the panels from a limited and set exposure to UV rays pending the installation of the outer coating. This film is waterproof and permeable to water vapour. Depending on the requirements of your worksite, we choose a suitable rainproof film.
The vapour barrier film restricts or blocks water vapour from passing through the wall in order to prevent condensation on the inside of the wall. It also helps to make the construction airtight. This film is waterproof and water vapour proof.
The combination of these 2 films gives the panel assembly its sealing properties, which are specifically defined according to your needs. The bracing panel also improves the assembly's permeability.

The insulating materials

We offer all the types of insulation that can be placed in the frames with a preference for rigid or semi-rigid insulation materials.
We offer mineral-based insulating materials (glass wool, rock wool), synthetic-based insulating materials (PES, polyurethane, etc.) or natural insulating materials (wood wool, cellulose wadding, animal wool, etc.)
We define the thickness and type of the insulation such that it fulfils your environmental, energy and budgetary requirements. We accurately calculate the thermal performance of the wall, having deducted any linear losses due to the wood elements that cross the frame from side to side, in order to provide you with the best possible solution.

The facings

> Ventilated facings:
We offer a variety of facing solutions laid on battens, which allow air to circulate between the rain barrier and the back of the facing:
- Solid wood (clapboards, cladding with variable cross-sections) which are laid horizontally or vertically
- Composite wood (clapboards, composite-coated boards) with a variety of layout patterns
- Mineral panels (boards)
- Metal cladding
- Metal or composite cassettes
In any case, this cladding does not constitute a damp-proof course, which is provided by the rainproof film.

> Non-ventilated facings:
In this case, the facing is composed of a supporting insulating assembly (separation layer between the load-bearing structure and the outer coating), layers of reinforced render and an outer coating.
The insulating combination, which is usually made of 50 mm of PSE, tends to be replaced with wood wool. Today, our standard is made using the STO combination (PSE + RPE coating).
The outer render may be of thick plastic or a mineral-type coating. All the finishes (vitrified, floating, etc.) are available in accordance with your expectations.

Carpentry

We can offer every type of joinery (assembled in the workshop).
We install windows in various materials (wood, wood/aluminium, aluminium, PVC, acrylic resin coated PVC, etc.) according to your needs and budget.
On request, we offer solutions in the workshop for installing entrance doors, technical doors, patio doors, etc.
